El Café del Cerro, en sus inicios fue un reconocido espacio de resistencia cultural que albergó agrupaciones musicales relacionadas con el Canto Nuevo (Jorge Yáñez, Congreso, Wampara, Óscar Andrade, Gervasio, Isabel Aldunate, entro otros exponentes) pero también vio nacer a musicalmente a otros géneros musicales con bandas como Los Prisioneros, Fulano, o La Ley.
